The Knghts of Peter Claver was organized in 1909 and fully incorporated in 1911. This was organized for Black Catholics as a fraternal organization and later became a fully recognized Mission of the Holy Catholic Church. Each Council is domiciled at a local parish, meaning our charter is signed and recognized as a mission of the local church.
Our aim is to be of service to the local parish, primarily, and to integrate into the parish life of the church with the intent to be that of service to the church and the parish as a whole. The Knights are represented into several mission of Our Mother of Mercy, including but not limited to the Ushers, Pastoal Advisory Council, Finance Committee, Socail Outeach among others. We are a part of the Texas State Council and actively participate as we have had several members that have been elected to the Texas State Council Board. We are also active in the local area group named the BICCAC, which is comprised of all area councils in Beaumont, Port Arthur , Orange, Raywood and Ames, and have had several members serving as officers.
The efforts of the Knights are to foster service to our Catholic Faith and to assist in all activities at the local church and provide support for our Priest. We try to integrate into as many areas of catholic life at OMOM and to support our local parish family in activities that fosters our faith and support for the Holy Catholic Church.
K.P.C meet on the 1st Sunday of each Month at 8:30am. Our organization is open to practicing catholic men who wishe to align with an organization that supports our parish family.
